What We Do
Live to disc is a San Diego based live recording service. We specialize in multi-track recording in Pro Tools using both Digidesign and M-Audio interfaces for the ultimate in sonic quality and portability. We can also offer HDV Hi-Def video production along with DVD authoring and website movie clips.
Experience
Live to Disc's owner has been a Pro Tools user for over 10 years. He has produced, engineered and mixed projects for many local bands as well as for major music manufacturers and top Billboard guitarist/vocalist Steve Oliver. Steve worked with Carvin and JLP productions to create a DVD demo of a synth guitar. Live To Disc's head engineer recorded, mixed and mastered the audio for that project. Quality Guaranteed
Live recordings can be done on just about any budget with a computer or handheld digital recorder. Live To Disc does not function under the premise of "let's hope we get a decent recording". We use gear we have tested and mastered. We insist on taking the time before the show, to make sure all audio has proper signal level. This step is so vital to the process that we guarantee our work when the set-up is given the proper respect. If a set-up is cut short, we cannot guarantee a recording that will meet our high standards. We work with every client to plan the set-up in advance so everyone is happy with the end result. To ensure our clients never walk away empty handed, we use a redundant backup when recording a live show. Aside from the multi-track being recorded in Pro Tools, we also record a stereo 2 track mix live during the show. This enables us to always have a 2nd recording for backup, reference etc..
Mixing / Editing / Mastering
We can work within any musician's budget. We are equipped to mix, edit and master your audio so it is ready for CD or online release. If you are working on a tight budget, you can also merely hire us to record the show and you can take the files to mix yourself. We can provide audio files that are compatible with other audio software.
